Welcome to MarleyDzis.com!Born to an instrumentalist father and vocalist mother, Marley began her formal musical training with lessons in classical piano and clarinet. The voice, however, was Marley's first love and remains as her primary instrument. Having graduated with a bachelor's degree in music from Loyola University New Orleans, Marley recently graduated with a master's degree in the same field from Northwestern University. While in New Orleans, Marley was privileged to have studied with incredible musicians such as vocalist Johnaye Kendrick and pianist Vadim Neselovskyi of the Monk Institute '09, big band arranger John Mahoney, vocalists Cindy Scott and Leah Chase, and Papa Grows Funk saxophonist Jason Mingledorff. She has been honored to be the featured vocalist for jazz septet Current Impulse Seven (www.wix.com/ciseven/ci7), the Loyola University Jazz Band in a beautiful composition by and with guest artist Rufus Reid, a special ceremony concert led by Astral Project saxophonist Tony Dagradi, as well as a soprano in the University of New Orleans Jazz Voices. In New Orleans, Marley has sung at various gigs at the Spotted Cat, Loyola's Fine Arts Festival, the Neutral Ground, the New Orleans French Quarter Fest with Sasha Masakowski, as well as other various gigs around the Crescent City. While in Chicago, Marley has studied privately with Blujazz recording artist Janice Borla and Northwestern University Jazz Coordinator and Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra member Victor Goines. She has also had the opportunity to co-direct and sing with the Northwestern Community Jazz Stage Band. ![]() |
